Being a laydee fineladies

There are many ways I might describe myself but refined is probably not one of them. I am always too interested in getting out and doing things to be bothered to be made up perfectly on a normal day, and these days I am more likely to be fresh off my bike with windswept hair.

But from time to time I think it would be nice to be a bit more of a lady – and sat here noticing these two was one of those times.

A little piece of history

Nijo Castle

Just a few minutes’ spin of the bicycle wheel from our little place here in Kyoto stands a World Heritage Site, “a place of exceptional and universal value; a cultural heritage site worthy of preservation for the benefit of mankind”.

This astonishing city actually has 17 sites deemed this magnificent. Today I wanted to share Nijo Castle with you.
